FESTZENTRUM HOCHBRĂCKE
BADENFAHRT 2017
For the Badenfahrt, a major folk festival held every ten years in the town of Baden in the canton of Aargau, two temporary wooden constructions were erected. These were filled with life by various users as a bar, restaurant and places for culture. The design was developed in close interdisciplinary collaboration.
Both buildings are two-storey, each approx. 17 m long and approx. 12 m wide. The handling of the location posed a particular challenge. The constructions were placed on an existing bridge and cantilevered partly by up to 2.5 m. Since the bridge deck should not be damaged, the construction could not be anchored to the bridge. The static system reacts to these special constraints by forming a stiffened box on the lower level, into which the inner columns of the upper level are clamped. The effect of the additional loads on the existing carriageway slab was also investigated.
